The Lent Commission within the Saint Mary Band Club of Dingli for the 11th consecutive year is keeping its yearly commitment in organising the Holy Week Pageant along the quiet streets of Dingli. This year, the Pageant’s theme has been chosen as “Mixja ta’ Fidi” -Walk of Faith and will be held on Palm Sunday, March the 24th from 10.00 a.m till noon.
This year’s theme has been inspired from the ‘Year of Faith’. In his Apostolic Letter, ‘Porta Fidei’ issued on the 11th October 2011, the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI announced this special time for the Catholic Church which coincides also with the 50th anniversary since the launch of the Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary since the publication of the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
'The Year of Faith, is a call to authentically re-convert to Christ, the sole Redeemer of the world.' (Benedict XVI in Porta Fidei”).
Through this pageant, the organizers would like to convey the message of faith given to us with the passion of our Christ. More than 130 Biblical Personages will participate in this year’s Pageant, accompanied by Saint Mary Band together with the Scouts and Girl Guides of Dingli.
This walk of Faith will commence with the reconstruction Jesus entering triumphally in the city of Jerusalem. This first part will leave from Don Bosco’s Salesian Oratory to the Society’s Band Club in Frenc Abela Square. Following, all Biblical personages will leave from the Society’s Band club to the streets of Dingli accompanied by narration and extracts about the Passion of Christ, prepared by Chev. Carmelo Bianchi, honorary president of the same Society. The Pageant will pass from the main streets of Dingli and finishes at Frenc Abela Square.
This pageant is being held with the collaboration of the Dingli Local Council.
