The 10th edition of Gaulitana promises indeed to be music for all ears presenting a varied range of musical genres. It features artists from around the globe, including virtuosi on wind and stringed instruments, piano and organ, in solo and multiple ensemble formations in a string of recitals and concerts. Striving to place Malta (and Gozo) on the global map of classical music, daily events are scheduled in various venues around Gozo. Performers include various local and international artists from Europe, USA and Egypt. The festival opens with a semi-staged version of My Fair Lady marking 60 years since its first Broadway performance. Il Barbiere di Siviglia will be the highlight of the OPERA Weekend. Presenting a piano recital, a Wine&music event, a lunchtime concert and vocal finale together with the full-stage operatic production, the weekend is a unique cultural bonanza of musical excellence. All the events of the festival (except the opera) are free-of-charge.
Tickets for Il Barbiere can be booked online at www.teatruaurora.com.
Gaulitana is supported by Arts Council Malta and is a recipient of the prestigious EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe).
