In Guardia

Now that the IN GUARDIA PARADE, scheduled for Fort St Elmo has come to an end, by popular demand, the Malta Tourism Authority shall be extending the schedule by a further six more re-enactments of the same theme. These shall, however, not be held in Fort St Elmo, as usual, but in the Grand Master’s Palace, in Republic Street, Valletta.

The re-enactment portrays the inspection of the palace garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John. The Grand Bailiff will inspect the troops; then a short ceremony is held whereby the Grand Bailiff gives homage to the Standardi (flags) that represent each Langue, (nation) of the Order. Then, the re-enactors - some 50 in all, will perform a military drill, in order to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff the garrison’s state of alertness.

The extra re-enactments shall commence on June 5 and will continue to be held every Sunday, until July 10, 2016.  The show starts at 11.00hrs and lasts 40 minutes.

Admission tickets:  Adults: Euros 7; Children (6 - 12 years) : Euros 3.

Neptune’s Courtyard, where the show is held, forms part of the Grand Master’s Palace, which today serves as the Office of the President of Malta. The Malta Tourism Authority wishes to thank H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta for allowing the Malta Tourism Authority to hold these re-enactments inside the Palace.
