Corradino Hockey Centre

The Corradino Hockey Centre is the home of Maltese hockey. The Centre was built in the late 19th Century and originally consisted of a cricket oval, 2 hockey pitch and a pavilion. The Centre originally belonged to the Royal Navy and was inaugurated by the Duke of Edinburgh on 17th October 1888. This shows that hockey has been practiced in Malta for over a century.

The Hockey Association Malta was founded in 1968 but hockey competitions have been held at the Corradino Centre since 1930's. In 1987, the centre was refurbished and improvements included redesigning the spectators stands for each hockey pitch and the pavilion itself. The Complex is surrounded by a large green area. In 2003, the one of the pitches had an artificial grass surface installed on it, which together with floodlights meant that the complex was upgraded to international standards.
