Irdum il-hmar lies on the road to Armier facing Mellieha’s, Santa Maria Estate and can be reached by bus no 45, with a further walking distance of about two to three kilometres. It has a military wall, intersecting a valley, built by the British. It also has a jetty in the form of a breakwater which was left unfinished.  It is frequently used by Dive Schools, off-roaders, or boat users since access to it is rough. (The last kilometre is a gradual descent on a dirt road to the waterline.)
