The Islands have developed an extensive nightlife portfolio with places of interest in the evening within virtually every major tourism locality.

As entertainment on the Islands is relatively inexpensive, there are specific areas that are great for those from eighteen years and up. The price of alcohol is considerably cheaper than anywhere else in Europe and entrance to most major entertainment venues is also reasonable, if not free of charge.

St. Julians (being of the largest scale), Bugibba, Mellieha and Marsascala are the areas with the most nightclubs and bars. Restaurants of all types and varieties can be found in these locations and the big clubs are also resident here. With so many five star hotels in the St. Julians area visitors can also find lounge entertainment with live music, dinner and dancing.

The annex to St. Julian's, aptly named Paceville, is a mecca for youngsters who like club crawling and consists mainly of holiday accommodation with the largest concentration of restaurants, bars and clubs in Malta. It is also suitable for the older, more adventurous individuals who enjoy pubs, wine bars, restaurants, rock clubs and jazz clubs. Most establishments open until the early morning hours.

Although being the capital city, Valletta has a limited selection of venues to offer and only restaurants and bars are open for evening entertainment.

Valletta predominantly shines during the Arts festival in the summer, when it is host to various art exhibits and concerts, including the popular Malta International Jazz Festival.

Crossing the channel to Gozo, visitors can find a similar selection to that of Malta, with a nice mix of restaurants lining the fishing villages of Marsalforn and Xlendi. After dinner, the rest of the evening can be enjoyed in wine bars or pubs. For dancing, Gozo has four discos, of which one is considered among the best in Europe.
