In recent years, Malta continued to attract important film and television productions, including international blockbuster movies such as Munich, Gladiator, Troy and others.

Several productions shot locally have also benefitted from the Malta Tourism Authority's support reserved for films and TV programmes depicting 'Malta as Malta'. 

Productions that were partly shot in Malta during 2007 included the following:


• The Lost Treasures of the Knights Templar III - Danish cinema production featuring locations and episodes from Malta's history.

• Man of East - A Russian production.

• Kriminalny - Two episodes of this Polish TV fiction were shot in Malta (4 million viewership)

• Coronation Street - Three episodes of this legendary British soap opera were shot in Malta (almost 12 million viewership)

• Carabinieri 7 - Two episodes of this popular Italian TV fiction were shot in Malta.

• Erotas - Two episodes of this Greek TV series were shot in Malta.
