Stop Over Ideas

The Grand Harbour is at the doorstep of most cruise liners: a fifteen-minute walk to the capital city and UNESCO world heritage site, Valletta.

Due to Malta’s small size, quite a lot can be seen in a day stopover. Visitors can book a guided tour to the quaint three cities (Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua) or to the Medieval “silent city” of Mdina. There is also the Crafts Village in Ta’ Qali to visit, or if the stopover is for a full day, visitors can experience the small tranquil Island of Gozo.

Alternatively, visitors can catch a taxi or bus and view the Islands at leisure, exploring the villages and sites on their own.

It is an excellent idea for visitors to ease into the cruise ahead by spending two-three days in Malta pre-cruise, acquainting themselves with the Mediterranean in a safe, English-speaking environment.
