Welcome to the month of February – the month of love, when many celebrate the feast of St. Valentine with expressions of romance and love!  The lunchtime concerts at St. Augustine Monastery will also celebrate this well-loved feast with expressions of romantic love by superb tenor Alan Sciberras and brilliant pianist Sofia Narmania who will perform romantic arias from renowned operas. This performance will take place at St. Augustine’s Monastery in Old Bakery Street, Valletta, on 12th February 2019 at 12 noon in another brilliant performance highlighting the works of operatic composers, mainly Giacomo Puccini.

Alan Sciberras will perform the romantic Dei miei bollenti Spiriti, composed by Verdi, an aria from “La Traviata” which will be followed by a sparkling French aria, an excerpt from Bizet’s brilliant opera “Carmen”. The programme includes an aria from Cilea’s opera ‘L’Arlesiana’ and Rossini’s Cujus Animam from ‘Stabat Mater’.  The last part of the performance is dedicated to the brilliant works of Puccini selected from the operas “Manon Lescaut”, “Tosca” and “La Boheme”.  Moreover, pianist Sofia Narmania is performing two beautiful piano interludes to compliment the performance.
