Extraordinary soprano Andriana Yordanova will take the stage at St. Augustine’s lunchtime concerts with a captivating repertoire of Joseph Haydn’s vocal works. The concert will be held on Tuesday 2nd April 2019 at noon.

Joseph Haydn was an Austrian musician and composer who worked intensively in the 18th century as a court musician and enjoyed a celebrity status in Europe as a composer. He was instrumental in the development of chamber music and he also wrote symphonies, operas, masses, solo piano and string quartets compositions.

Andriana Yordanova will be singing a number of Haydn’s delightful arias, such as A Pastoral Song, Pleasing Pains, She never told her love and a Sailor’s Song. Furthermore, there will be two arias from the opera “The Creation”, namely the arias of Uriel and Gabriel. Tenor Christian Abela, a promising student from The Malta School of Music will be singing duets whilst pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa will be accompanying the singers.

Visitors are encouraged to enjoy a free visit to the interesting chambers of the monastery of St. Augustine in Old Bakery Street, Valletta, after the concert. Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration project of the Augustinian Monastery. Tickets, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins.
