The town of Ħaż-Żabbar is once again organising The Malta International Food Festival, a culinary and musical event endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and Culture.
Many people associate the city of Ħaż-Żabbar with our Lady of Graces and the synonymous feast in the first days of September, the Avro Vulcan crash or the tasty traditional berries, a specie which relates to the traditional familiar vendor cry which attests to the high quality of Ħaż-Żabbar's agricultural products.
In order to develop a creative expression of excellence in the city's own cultural identity, as of last year the Zabbar Local Council committed itself in a number of cultural initiatives which have attracted thousands of fellow locals and tourists from all around the World. The Malta International Food Festival is a clear example of this energetic cultural environment. The festival turned to be Malta's own culinary festival which brings about 10 different National cuisines from all around the globe.
For one night only, on the 31st May 2014, Zabbar will be hosting professional chefs, who will be showcasing food from ten different areas of the world.
Spreading from Sanctuary Street all the way to St. James' Square (colloquially known as ‘il-Misrah' ), on Saturday 31st May 2014 visitors can taste freshly-prepared food from 10 different areas of the World. The areas will be decorated in such a way as to give the visitors the opportunity to virtually transport themselves to the countries and regions being depicted through the culinary expertise of the chefs.
Visitors will be entertained by Malta's own best artists along with a number of international traditional acts. A number of painters will be also live painting murals on large walls; a unique experience of a kind. Special children's area will be set up including Bouncy Castles, face-painting and other activities will be the delight and the main attractions for the kids.
Ħaż-Żabbar will be given a temporary facelift with Pavilions and special conceptual lighting to make the event even more memorable. Bars of the area will be set up outside as Sanctuary Street will be pedestrianised for the night.
The Malta International Food Festival, is being held on the 31st May 2014 from 19:00hrs onwards.
