In 2019 classical music lovers all over the world mark the 180th birth anniversary of Modest Mussorgsky.

To celebrate this important date, Mr Albert Storace, Maltese musical critic, will be giving a public talk on life and works of this prominent Russian composer.

Mussorgsky (1839–1881) was an innovator of the 19th century Russian music.

He was one of the famous "The Five" aka "Mighty Handful" along with Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Balakirev and Cui.

They worked together from 1856 to 1870 and created very original Russian classical music.

Mussorgsky lived a short and tragic life with his talent not fully recognized by his contemporaries.

Despite this, many people nowadays consider him one of Russia's greatest national composers.
