Stranden & Baaien
Malta heeft stranden voor iedereen, van winsurfers tot zonaanbidders. U kunt kiezen uit goudkleurige en rode zandstranden, rotsstranden, idyllische lagunes en er zijn zelfs binnenzeeën. Sommige stranden en rotsachtige stukken kust liggen buiten de gebaande paden, maar zijn de moeite waard vanwege hun beschutte ligging. Maak zeker de boottocht naar de Blue Lagoon van Comino voor het ultieme azuurblauwe water. Cafés en snackbars zijn op de grotere stranden het hele zomerseizoen open. Dankzij Malta’s klimaat gaat het strandleven tot een flink eind in oktober door. U kunt hier genieten van watersportactiviteiten zoals windsurfen, jet- en waterskiën, parakiten en boottochtjes. Materiaal is te huur bij alle strandtenten of winkels in de buurt van het strand.
De belangrijkste badplaatsen en de grotere zandstranden liggen op het noordelijk deel van Malta. Malta’s meest populaire stranden zijn Mellieha Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha en Golden Bay. Voor kleinere en rustigere stranden moet u aan de noordwestkant van Malta zijn; vanaf Paradise Bay en Armier Bay hebt u uitzicht op Gozo. Het mooiste strand op Gozo is Ramla I-Hamra, een groot strand van ongebruikelijk rood zand dat omringd is door mooie natuur. Gozo en Comino hebben een groot aantal verborgen baaitjes met helder water – ideaal om in te snorkelen.

Armier Bay

The beach at Armier stretches round the shore of an open bay at the extreme northern fringe of Malta. The sandy bay faces the nearby islands of Comino and Gozo.
Balluta Bay

Balluta Bay lies on a long stretch of rocky coastline that goes from from Qui-si-Sana in Sliema all the way to St. Julian’s. This coastline is thronged with sunbathers during the peak summer months.
Birżebbuġa
Birżebbuġa, Malta
Birżebbuġa is a flourishing, but small, seaside resort not far from Marsaxlokk in south-east Malta. Its shoreline hugs St. George’s although the sandy beach is known as Pretty Bay. It has been a popular bathing spot for Maltese holiday-makers for decades.
Blue Lagoon

On the tiny island of Comino you will find the sheltered, dazzlingly blue waters of this small inlet, which has appeared on screen many times, most recently for a diving scene featuring Madonna in Swept Away and a spearfishing scene set in ancient times for the mini-series Helen of Troy.
Buġibba
St. Paul’s Bay, Malta
Buġibba and Qawra are Malta’s largest, seaside resort towns. The coastline promenade stretches from Salina Bay to St. Paul’s Bay, taking in some of the Islands’ best open sea views and a vista over to St. Paul’s Island.
