Every Summer, this two-day music festival dedicated to traditional Maltese Għana, or folk song, sets up stage in Malta’s magical Argotti Gardens. Now in its twelfth edition, the festival strives to expand its reach and repertoire, bringing audiences a fresh set of folk soundscapes from beyond our shores and encouraging creative exchange between local and international artists working in this ever-evolving genre. Nowadays, Għanafest also organizes fringe events with local folk singers and songwriters; with Għana veterans and newcomers touring major village feasts all over the Island, this well-respected festival never rests on its laurels, continuously strengthening its roots and tending to the next generation of folk artists on our Islands.
