DAR TA' PIETRU FARMHOUSE

Step back in time at this beautifully restored 400 year old ancient house...

...in the village of Gharb on the island of Gozo. It has been completely and lovingly restored with all the modern conveniences, has a lovely swimming pool and is tastefully decorated in a style in keeping with its Mediterranean heritage. It has carefully selected comfortable dècor an impeccable upkeep and cleanliness throughout. Like all old Maltese and Gozitan farmhouses, it still retains an abundance of old world features like niches, stone archways and 3 feet thick rural walls which are typically known to keep warmth in winter and cool in summer. The painted Maltese tiles are very attractive and give extra warmth and color to the sunny atmosphere that already prevails in this delightful holiday home.

The house is located on two levels plus a roof terrace, with two of the bedrooms accessed from the courtyard on the ground level. The master bedroom has an adjoining bathroom and the second bedroom has a bathroom just next door. Both bedrooms have a dressing room for more comfort or maybe can easily accommodate a portable cot for a baby. The third bedroom with bunk beds is on the first floor. It is independent and accessed from the terrace that has beautiful views of the rugged and peaceful countryside and village of Gharb. Also on the first floor is the kitchen/breakfast area and the living and dining room. There is a shower room on the first floor that is easily accessed from the pool area.

The house is perfect for a family or two couples that want a relaxing vacation under sun filled skies in a peaceful location. The three-story house is entered off a quiet village street and opens onto a small inner tiled courtyard. The pool off the back of the house is a great place to relax and cool off. It's an ideal setting for leisurely meals or a great place to simply sit, reading a book or watching the spectacular sunsets. The upper terrace provides a quiet retreat where you can simply look up at the dark, starry night sky, and perhaps sip a glass of wine.

The living room has a working stone fireplace and comfortable seating. At the opposite end of the room is the dining area with an antique farm table and seating for six people. The fully equipped kitchen, on the same floor as the living and dining room, has marble countertops, a full-sized refrigerator, a four-burner stove with oven and a microwave. All perfect for fixing meals with the abundant supply of local fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood.

The second bedroom, located on the ground floor, has two twin beds and is comfortable for two adults or two children. The bedroom window opens onto the quiet road. Go up one flight of external stairs to reach the third bedroom with a set of attractive, antique wrought iron bunk beds, perfect for two children or teenagers.

Next to the third bedroom is the terrace with views galore over the countryside. In the morning, run up to the main square and pick up the newspaper, then enjoy your morning coffee watching the sun creep up over the terraced hills. On balmy summer nights enjoy the sunset, while you listen to the tolling bells of the nearby church sanctuary.

The pool has a convenient shower for rinsing off after swimming.
