Manchester United and Malta have a long-standing history which goes back over 60 years. In fact, Malta’s Manchester United Supporters’ Club is one of the oldest in the world, and it is in fact one of the most active.
In 1967, Manchester United started their European campaign by playing the local team Hibernians FC in the first round, which then led Manchester United to winning their first European Cup. There is a very strong bond between the supporters’ club, the Maltese Islands, and Manchester United, evidenced by the frequent visits of players and officials from Old Trafford to Malta over the years. Clearly, they always felt very much at home… and so will you!
In 2019, Malta’s Ministry for Tourism, VisitMalta and Manchester United, cemented this relationship with an exciting deal, which sees Manchester United promoting Malta as a tourist destination, for all its fans, worldwide, thus making VisitMalta the official destination partner of Manchester United.
The VisitMalta brand is now visible on the Club’s website, on its Social and Digital Media Channels, on adverts at Old Trafford.
