Flautist Silvio Zammit and pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa will appear on stage at St. Augustine Monastery in Old Bakery Valletta to present another splendid flute and piano recital.  The “Harmonious Flute and Piano” recital will be held on Tuesday 13 November 2018 at 12 noon.

The duo will be performing an eclectic selection of flute and piano music ranging from Vivaldi to Morricone.  They will perform Vivaldi’s “Flute Concerto in D major “Il Gardellino”, a movement from Mozart’s “Flute Concerto in G major”, Saint Saens’ “Romance”, Gossec’s “Tambourin” and Morricone’s “La Califfa”. Ramona will further enrich the recital with her solo piano pieces which include Lecouna’s “Mazurka Glissando” and Chopin’s “Mazurka in Bb”.

Silvio and Ramona Zammit have been active as a duo for the past 20 years.  They are both Fellows of the London College of Music and teach music in the Malta School of Music in Hamrun.  Particularly due to Ramona’s versatility on the piano, flute, and harpsichord, the duo can perform in the different combinations of instruments.

During 1978-2001, Silvio was a member of the National Orchestra of Malta.  Currently, he follows his professional career as a teacher and freelance soloist.  In 1998, the duo won the Lloyd Weber medal for distinction in interpretation. They have performed in various solo and chamber recitals in the U.S.A., Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal, Bulgaria and England.  They have also recorded CDs of Maltese music by Pace and Camilleri.  In collaboration with Gukulari Ensemble, they have also recorded CDs of 18th and 19th-century music.  Several Maltese composers have dedicated works to the duo.  Their extensive repertoire ranges from the baroque to the contemporary.

Enjoy a free visit to the interesting chambers of the monastery which are adorned with beautiful and historical sacred ornaments, after the concert.
