On the occasion of International Women's Day 2019, China Cultural Centre in Malta joined hands with Gaulitana - A Festival of Music in Gozo and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, one of China's top Academy of Fine Arts , to collaborate on "Together We Rise" curated by Liang Zhang - an artistic initiative which combines the “ Women in Society” theme of the 13th edition of Gaulitana and CCC`s Women`s Culture Month concept as a cultural bridge between both countries.

Just like the stance of international women and the symbol of freedom, let art fly freely with the wings of music! The female-themed works are imbued with significance and energy, focusing not only on the female artists themselves, but also on the portrayal and creation of “Female Art”. The "She" in the works have both the vanguard spirit and the traditional foundation, daring to cast dreams, yet pursuing and realizing dreams. At the same time, as the artists themselves, "She" pursues freedom, pursues art; creating a new life, a new world and personal value which contributes to society through the language of art.

From the perspective of transcending the duality and opposition between genders "Together We Rise” looks at the specific life experience of women, mining the differences and similarities. The aim is not to talk about women independently, but on the contrary, to be in the same boat naturally!

Moreover, during a speech at the welcoming banquet of the "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that mankind lives in a common homeland and shares a common destiny. Human history has always developed in the encounter of different nationalities and cultures. This Sino-Maltese international culture and arts collaboration showcases Malta`s and China's common dream for a future of continued development and win-win achievements.

This exhibition is an affectionate call to be appreciated by its viewers, echoing the heartbeat of over 30 teachers and students of art, from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Arts, Nanjing Academy of Art.
